And dad, well he’ll love that everyone is happy and there is a big squashy corner sofa to sink into whilst watching Sky on the flat screen. There is something for everyone at West View Cottage.
If you are interested in a mid week booking, we offer exceptional accommodation at very reasonable prices. For example; a 5 night mid week stay starting on a Sunday costs from just £895, which between three or four families is very reasonable and ideal for mid week get away in half term or Easter etc. without the hassle of airports or long journeys.
The Bedrooms
All of the six large bedrooms are able to either have double beds or twin singles, plus most rooms can also become ‘family rooms’ with the addition of extra put-u-up beds or cot. In most bedrooms this would still leave plenty of space to walk around and enjoy the beautiful decor and welcoming space.
On the ground floor of the main cottage, we have two good size bedrooms, Clare and Catharine. Clare has an en-suite and dressing room and Catharine has a shower room just across the downstairs hall. Clare and Catharine are ideal for those family members preferring not to use stairs. In addition, John is a ground floor detached annex just five metres from the main cottage and creates an ideal 'escape' for those needing a little more peace and quiet. It is also very close to easily join in with the festivities!
Upstairs we have three large bedrooms, Lucy, Emmanuel and Magdalene. Lucy has en-suite facilities and Magdalene and Emmanuel share an adjacent ‘family’ bathroom.
Living Accommodation
Dinning Room: Our elegantly appointed dining room seats up to 14 guests at a large bespoke dining table; we have beautiful Wedgewood Signet Platinum crockery and high-end cutlery, so the table can be dressed beautifully. We also have a child boaster seat and one high-chair that can be left out for your use on request.
The Lounge: We recently purchased a fantastic and large, squashing corner sofa. We love it and have had lots of comments on how great it is to drop and squash into! The TV is a 30” plasma screen and we have a Sky HD box with Entertainment and Children’s channels. There are also lots of DVDs if you fancy a film or two.
The kitchen: a welcoming room with centre table to chat around and all the facilities you would expect from an establishment such as ours; we now have two built in larder fridge freezers, so we can fully accommodate all consumables of a large group; our RangeMaster range cooker covers your family cooking needs with two full size ovens, separate grill, warming tray and 5/6 burner ceramic hob. We also have a Smeg dishwasher to help with the inevitably large amount of washing up! Across the hall from the kitchen is a Utility room with a separate washer and drier and a laundry sink, iron, board and Sebo vacuum cleaner.
The Gardens
West View Cottage is set in a private ¾ acre garden surround by tall hedges and trees and open arable farmland. Our gardens are divided into 3 areas; the front, back and paddock.
The front garden is a private smaller garden surrounded by tall laurel hedging. Getting the last of the sun we sometimes take chairs round and sit enjoy the last of the warmth and the beautiful Cambridgeshire sunsets.
The back garden is the first you will see on arrival and long driveway (with plenty of parking) runs along side it. Again surrounded by tall hedges and trees, it is very private. It is close to the back door, which is the entrance most use, and the annex is positioned in this garden, it is great for being able to keep an eye on the kids and dogs and we have many a happy game of Crochet whist others watch on sipping Pims from the garden table.
The paddock is the largest of the gardens and is mainly surrounded by tall trees and beyond arable farm land. The paddock is great for games and for kids to explore. We have often used this land for ‘sports day’ activities, or badminton, cricket etc. Then the kids go and explore at the very top ‘secrete garden’ where many a ‘den’ has been created. All in all, the gardens at West View Cottage offer something for everyone.
